5 Minute daily makeup routine for busy moms

Updated: Jun 29, 2024

Today we are talking about a quick and easy 5-minute daily makeup routine for moms!

5 Minute daily makeup routine

I don’t know about you but the mornings in my household are CRAZY! It’s a miracle we all get out the door on time. Between yelling at my 13 year old a million times to get out of the shower and panic searching for his favorite hoodie, while also yelling down at my husband to make sure breakfast is ready, we are shook by the time that kid gets off to school. Oh and not to mention I haven’t even begun my morning routine yet! I learned quickly once I became a Mom that things were going to have to shift, gone were the days of having a full hour to get ready for work and gone were the days of my 20 minute flawless makeup routine. Trust me, this Mom will be putting makeup on but I knew it had to be quick and effective! Here’s exactly what's in my makeup bag and how I do in 5 minutes! Yup, got it down to a science! Let's get started on my everyday look

1. Start with a Moisturizer

My secret weapon to my minimal makeup routine is a  daily moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer (if you like a natural look)? That is my absolute number one thing as it works as a great primer for my dry skin and helps your makeup absorb into your skin for longevity and a healthy glow.  If time permits I like to add an eye cream to help my dark circles.  Another option for moisture would be a lightweight skin serum. Click link below for some moisturizer options.

2. Consealor/Foundation

I go to my Beauty Counter Concealer and touch up any red blemishes on my face. I like to use my foundation brush to work it in a little then I add my CC cream (Thrive Causemetics) which I use as my foundation. Once I get my foundation blended I use my cream bronzer (Thrive Causemetics) on my forehead and jawline (gotta make that jawline look slim) and use my foundation brush to buff it gently into my skin. Click links below for favorite options.

3. Blush

Now for Blush, the real MVP in my opinion! I tend to gravitate towards a cream blush mostly because I have dry skin but that’s a whole different blog post on that topic! Just a couple dots on each cheekbone and gently buff it into the skin with a blush brush. The pop of color will give life to your skin. If you tend to be oily and want a more matte look then you can add some translucent powder to your whole face once your blush has been applied. Click links below for favorite options.

4. Brows

Next up, I brush my brows and fill them in with a brow pencil or a tinted brow gel. Thank you to my thyroid for thinning these out! Gotta love a hole in the middle of your brow… am I right?

5. Mascara

Finally, I like to end with a coat of mascara! Helps our mom eyes look alive!

6. Lip gloss/Lipstick

I should add that I like a bit of lipstick but I don’t usually put that on until I get to work because I need time to drink all the coffee! But, if you're a stay at home mom or new mom and some extra time to spare, I say go for the bold lip!

I hope this quick makeup routine inspires you to put makeup on even if you feel rushed for time.  I know I feel my personal best when I do! Just remember to start slow and choose makeup that makes you feel YOUR best, even if it's only mascara, blush and lip gloss!

Pro-tip and easy way to get help if you struggle with picking and choosing the correct beauty products for yourself and don't want to spend a long time figuring it out. I would recommend going to your local Sephora or ulta. A makeup artist  can help you quickly choose from makeup kits, go-to products, makeup brushes, bb cream, lip color, eyeshadow palette, etc... They have plenty of products to choose from and will help you find the perfect product for your skin tone.
