The kids are going back to school, do you know what that means?!?! It means I can actually clean my house, because it stands a chance of staying clean for more than 2 minutes!
During the summer I feel like all sense of calm and cleanliness go out the door in my house, I know I can't be the only one! The kids are running in and out, there is so much dust from a lack of rain, and all 5 of us are living in close quarters 24/7. I try to keep things picked up and spot clean where I see it, but it's pretty much just calming the chaos. So, when school rolls around I feel a need to really dig deep and tackle some deep cleaning projects. Below are some of my FAVORITE products I actually use to make my house sparkle, I am also attaching a cleaning schedule to help you stay on top of what feels like a never-ending job!
1. Pink Stuff Paste
I stumbled upon these products by accident a few years ago and have not looked back! The paste is great because it really is multi-purpose. I have used it on my cooktop, kitchen sink, bathtubs, counters, almost anything. I use it with a scrub daddy and make sure to really scrub it then wipe off the product and rinse with water.
2. Pink Stuff Window Cleaner
Another pink stuff product I love, the glass cleaner! This product is the best window cleaner I have found, if used with a microfiber cloth. It has a slight vinegar scent but that doesn't linger. This cleaner works great on our shower glass doors, mirrors, and any other glass surfaces in our home. It truly leaves the surface sparkling without any streaks.
3. Grout cleaner
I have to admit, I HATE cleaning showers in our house. Not only is it a tedious job, but the grout never seems to look good, no matter how much I scrub. That is until I found a grout cleaner that actually works! Sugelary Home Remover Gel is a small bottle that is specifically made for removing mold and grime in grout and on other surfaces it builds up on. You put the gel on and wait 3-5 hours then wipe off and rinse, it is truly the only thing I have found that makes my grout look like new.
4. Microfiber clothes
I had always used paper towels and been frustrated when my window cleaner didn't work, it wasn't until I started using microfiber clothes for my glass and wood cleaning that I noticed a huge difference. You don't need anything fancy here, this giant pack from Amazon works great.
5. Spinning Head Cleaning Brush
This is another product purchased because of my hatred to clean showers, but this gadget makes it so much easier! With a spinning brush and attachments that get in the corners this takes a lot of the manual scrubbing out of the equation. Also, the brush comes with a handle that extends so it allows you to reach taller tiled areas at the top.
6. Stick Vacuum with Detachable Dust Buster
I cannot say enough great things about this product, it works great for picking up the daily crumbs and hair from my dog and wool rugs. In additional to the vacuum, the top detaches to create a dust buster. I use this almost daily! I use the dust buster part for stairs, crumbs around chairs or under counters, really any area that accumulates dust.
7. Bona Mop
This mop is not fancy, but it gets the job done, my favorite kind of cleaning appliance! Bona is the best floor cleaner I have found, it is streak free, gets grime off, and has a pleasant scent. This mop makes it easy to quickly clean up small or bigger messes.
8. Bissell Vacuum for Pet Hair
To say I LOVE this vacuum is an understatement! It picks up hair so well and I am always astonished (and grossed out) at how much stuff fills the canister after I vacuum. The canister is easy to remove and dump and all the debris comes out without me having to dig it out with my hands.
9. Shark Steam Mop
This steam mop is a great option if you want an organic clean or have floors that would be sensitive to certain cleaning solutions. The steam mop is great at getting off sticky messes and leaves your floors streak-free!
Hopefully you can find a few useful items on this list. Cleaning is definitely not my favorite thing to do, but at least these products work and make the job a little easier.
